This is all a beginner needs to know. It is mathematically correct for maximizing EV. Later you might learn about maximizing CE instead of EV (a choice of personal preference that varies between players) and the insurance plays gets a little more fuzzy.

When TC is above +3 if you use a level 1 count and above +6 if you use a level 2 count.

What if you use a level-2 count but divide RC by half decks remaining to get true count? That is, after all, what the RPC does.

    Don
Of course, if people obtain TC by dividing the number of half-deck or quarter-deck, they need to adjust.

Because almost book authors use TC dividing by number of decks, not half-decks or quarter decks. Only people who like to argue trivial things will bring this up and say "You are not absolutely right."

Yes, we all know how Don likes to pick something trivial and argue about it.

Why not say "it's +3 for Hilo. Many level 2 counts are +6. You should check for the correct number for your account but always insure when that number is reached or exceeded."
